Welcome to Wolf Moon Cove
A place to buy unique gifts and local art with its own old-world charm.
Imagine a dark, stormy night. The midnight sky illuminated by an entrancing full moon. The wind torments the wild sea as it throws up thickly foaming spray. You watch the rain thrash against the mottled window pane, listening to its pitter-patter replying to the call of its brothers the waves as they crash against the cragged rocks.
The crackling fire is bright, it dances to an unheard melody as the flame in your oil lamp silently hums along from under the glass. The tavern is warm, the chatter is music. And your tea is piping hot, steaming before you from an earthenware mug. Rest a while. There is no rush, for here there is no time.
Welcome to wolf moon cove. We are happy to have you here.
Wolf Moon Cove embodies the spirit of a place. When I was trying to find the right name and brand identity for myself as an artist and for my online art print shop, I really wanted to choose something that captured the essence of everything that inspires my collage art. If you haven’t read my blog introduction, All About Seth Macbeth, head back one and have a read. Short recap - everything that makes Wolf Moon Cove a real place to me comes from my artistic inspiration. What I love, and what ignites creativity in me.
Creating a brand that feels like it could be a real place was one of the most important cornerstones for me - having moved from England to Vancouver, to Nova Scotia, and back again, having real deep roots somewhere has never felt like a true option. There hasn’t been a place I could truly belong to, because so much of my identity and inspiration seemed to be pulled from such different places.
But having Wolf Moon Cove means there is a place - albeit in our collective imaginations - where I can always come back to and feel at home. Where I can put all that inspires and ignites me, and come back to it always. No matter where I find myself.
I have carved this place out of my heart and imagination, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
How Wolf Moon Cove inspires my collage art
Wolf Moon Cove is home to an old-world pace and way of life. Where cozy cottages and high street stores shelter you from grey days and greet you with a ghost story and a cup of hot tea. Everyone is welcome, if they can brave the weather. Wandering travelers are never lost here.
The folks that live in Wolf Moon Cove have a deep love of nature, art, and stories. Their town is formed into the rock and sand, built from the trees and embraced by the hard cliffs that shelter them from the power of the waves.
My collage art and art prints start with these values as their first layer. You might think that’s just white paper under all those collage pieces but nope! It’s values, baby. My values as an artist, and the cove’s values as a place in my heart. It took a lot of self exploration and brand strategy planning to discover these foundation stones, but that’s what gives life to Wolf Moon Cove as a place. And creates a through-line in all of the art I create.
The core elements of Wolf Moon Cove
Creativity
What I want most out of this experience is for my creative life to thrive. I don’t need hustle culture, I don’t want to build an empire. After a lot of soul searching and many years of artistic strife, I just want to be true to myself. As an artist, and as a person. That means creating artwork for me, that I love. That makes me excited to be an artist.
In my heart is kindness, lighthouses, really old ships, and a love of tea that is bordering on obsessive. My style is unique, you won’t find it anywhere else. Because it’s me, and it’s true, and I love it.
Natural
If you’re in the Maritimes, you’ve got to love the sea. They ask you that before you move here, and give you a stamp in your passport for it, true story. My time in Nova Scotia has brought me a lot of inspiration, with its wild and beautiful waves and smooth Peggy’s Cove rocks. My work is inspired by nature, from the landscapes and colours to the textures and imperfect shapes.
My first inspiration is always the sea. Following its lead, I embrace the imperfections and rough, rugged finish of a natural and unedited style. Nature is not perfect, and neither am I.
Home
At my heart is home. Wherever and whatever that may be; childhood memories and family. A warm fire, books by candlelight, togetherness. The shape of houses along the coast, lights in the window. Comfort, tranquillity and calm. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have these things, and so they are values I carry in my collage art and in Wolf Moon Cove. Everyone is welcome.
The world is a lot right now. Let’s all find a somewhere we can just take a moment, where we are safe, loved, and greeted with a warm welcome. I know just the place…
Old World
I don’t know about you, but I love the calm and quiet of old-world charm. Rusty tea tins and bone china cups with the most amazing patterns. Old hand painted signage on weather-battered wood. A sense of community we’ve lost to the loud distraction and dopamine hit of cell phones and screens. Wolf Moon Cove is an old place, with stories and memories built within the walls of all the old shops and houses.
Take your basket down to the market stalls, light your candles on the window ledge, and hear tell the stories of old.
Mystery
I love a good ghost story, don’t you? Ever since I was a kid I’ve been into spooky houses, dark stormy nights, and generally anything a little shy of macabre. Mysteries intrigue and enchant us, and paired with a moody coastline and melancholy nature of the deep blue sea, it comes as no surprise that Wolf Moon Cove has a haunted, eerie side.
My art often tells dark stories. There’s just something a little magical about the unknown. Wolf Moon Cove is a spooky place. So you best remember your lantern if you venture out in the midnight mist.
I’m so excited to finally be sharing this place with all of you. Built one brick at a time from my experiences and creative inspirations, I hope to share my collage art and ocean themed prints for sale with the wider world outside of the cove.
So if you love a good rainstorm along the coast, stay a while at Wolf Moon Cove and explore a world of creativity washed ashore.
